Guide to choosing your sunscreen!

The time of year has come, when all we think about is our holidays and long days at the beach or pool. The use of sunscreen is essential, not only to avoid sunburn, but also to protect our skin from premature aging and skin cancer.

There are many sun protection offers and Inouïe explains what you should consider when choosing your face or body sunscreen:

1. Are you going to use sunscreen at the beach, sports or for everyday use?

If you want a sunscreen for the beach or sports, you should consider choosing a water-resistant sunscreen, since the protector must offer high resistance to sweat, friction or water without losing its effectiveness.

If you want a day-to-day sunscreen, you should choose a sunscreen with a light texture, easy absorption and without leaving a white or oily residue.

    2. What is your skin type?

To choose your sunscreen, you must take into account your skin type, whether oily, mixed or dry. There are different textures of sunscreens that are more adapted to different skin types.

      3. What is your phototype?

Whether you have lighter skin or not, if you don't apply enough sunscreen or if you don't renew it, give preference to sunscreens with SPF50. Never forget that sunburn significantly increases the risk of skin cancer.

        4. Do you want to use a 2 in 1 sunscreen?

There are sunscreens that have ingredients with different functions and that can help soothe, hydrate or even help control the appearance or worsening of blemishes.

          5. Do you take any photosensitizing medication?

There are some medications that can make our skin more sensitive to the sun, namely antibiotics, antidepressants, anti-inflammatory or antihistamines. If you have any questions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

            6. Are you pregnant?

Due to the hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, our skin is more predisposed to the appearance of blemishes with sun exposure. It is important to limit exposure to the sun, especially for darker skin tones, and opt for a sunscreen with SPF50 and protection against visible light.
