Worried about skin spots? Then this theme is for you!

The spots or hyperpigmentation are characterized by an excessive production of melanin, the pigment responsible for giving color to our skin.

There are several causes that lead to the appearance of a spot on the skin. However, due to sun exposure, it is after the summer that we feel that new spots have appeared or the ones we already had worsened.

It is known that there are many women who suffer from this problem and it often leads to a loss of self-esteem. Let's get to know the different types of hyperpigmentation that can appear on the skin:

  1. Genetic or better known for freckles and moles. Both arise due to our genetics, however, the appearance of signs are not influenced by exposure to the sun unlike freckles.

  2. Melasma mainly appears on the face in a symmetrical fashion, on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, upper lip, chin and forehead. Melasma can arise due to hormonal changes, medication or repeated sun exposure. Melasma often appears during pregnancy, also known as colasma or “pregnancy cloth”.

  3. Solar lentigo or better known as “old age spots”, appear on exposed skin areas and are caused by excessive and repeated exposure to the sun.

  4. By medicines . There are medications that can cause spots, due to photosensitivity. Certain antibiotics, contraceptives, perfumes, dyes, among others, can lead to erythema of the skin due to sun exposure.

  5. Post-inflammatory . The stain appears after an acute or chronic process on the skin, namely in acne, herpes, wounds or eczema lesions.

We should always bet on preventing the appearance of the stain, using a sunscreen with a high UVA and UVB index daily. It is important to use in our beauty routine a day care to prevent the appearance of blemishes, as well as a night care that stimulates the renewal of our skin.

Stains are something that tends to get worse as we get older, so we must take good care of our skin and always focus on prevention.
